05:04 pm - Picture of the painting Because Illious asked for it, here is a picture of the painting I finished. It's not the best of pictures, but it gives you an idea of what I did. The picture is of the largest waterfall in the Lower Penninsula of Michigan. It's called Akiak, or something like that. It's an Indian name.
Here it is Current Mood: artistic

Thanks! I had a hard time with this painting for some reason. It was emotionally draining and the paint wouldn't work right. That's why it's taken me 10-11 years to finish it. That's beautiful!
What type of paint did you use? ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/31652373/3212812) | From: | uberrod |

I used acrylic on canvas. That explains the problems you had with the paint. Oils are *much* better for depth & color & just about everything when it comes to paint (except ease of use). Acrylics like to flatten everything out.
However, the fact that you did get some really nice depth to your painting with the acrylics makes me even more impressed. Good work!

I've used acrylics since high school. The problem wasn't the paint, it was something else. I've never had this much trouble with a painting. It was like I'd lost my skill or something. This painting should have taken a week or two to finish.
The trees and the waterfall were ok, but the rocks were the biggest pain in the butt. I couldn't get the color right, and when I found the right paint, I couldn't work the paint. It was very frustrating. I'm still not completely satisfied, but I have done as much as I can on it and must call it finished.
I'm going to see this painting like a plateau when exercising. Now that it is finished, I'm hoping to expand my skills. Oh my gods it looks so real! You are so talented, Rod! <3 ![[User Picture]](https://l-userpic.livejournal.com/31652373/3212812) | From: | uberrod |

Thank you! I try for a photorealistic look. My goal as an artist is for it to look like a photograph.
Keep in mind that the photo didn't come out very well. The painting actually looks a lot better than this.
