09:13 pm - Throwback Pepsi products
So Liz and I got a 12 pack of Mountain Dew Throwback and Pepsi Throwback at Krogers yesterday. It uses sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.

Man is this stuff good!

It is so much better than the other stuff. I must have missed it when the high fructose corn syrup was introduced, but now, the sugar stuff is less sickingly sweet than before. It has a lighter cleaner kind of taste.

What a difference real sugar makes.

I tried one on Friday, and it really hit me how used to the stickiness of HFCS I've really become. Drinking a cola that felt like an actual liquid was bizarre and refreshing. I only hope that Coke will do something similar!

Remember "New Coke"? The formula change was used to mask the inclusion of corn syrup. When Coke Classic came out, there wasn't any original coke to compare it to and palates had been nuked by how overly sweet New Coke was...

I'm going to have to check the throwback stuff out...

Yeah I noticed when Coke Classic came out that it wasn't sugar but the high fructose corn syrup.

The cashier at the store didn't like the throwback and claimed that it tasted like diet. But then she also said she was a smoker. So maybe to her the high fructose corn syrup tasted normal.

I saw 20oz bottles at Meijer being sold invidivdually. I didn't look for the 12 packs of cans.

As far as I know they don't make a coke version yet.
