Voting Day

We got up early so we could vote before work. We got to the poll about 8:15am. We had to wait in line for almost 45 minutes just to get our ballot. I've never seen it so crowded before. But then, I've not been at this particular place during a presidential election. Just elections for Governer, and stuff like that as we were living elsewhere before.

I voted straight ticket Democratic.

There were a couple of interesting proposals. No.1 was a complicated one about having people vote to approve gambling in their respective areas. On the surface it sounds good, but it also includes the lottery and gives exemptions to some casinos. Without the exemptions I might have voted for it. It was really confusing and badly written. Better to vote no and get a better worded proposal next time.

No. 2 was an irritating one. It was to change MI constitution to define a marriage as only being between a man and a woman. I, of course, voted no to approve it. I don't see anything wrong with gay marriage. But it will probably pass anyway. :(
