Been playing a lot of City of Heroes. It really is an amazing game. Sure it sucks a lot of your time, but I have found that I have learned a bit more about myself. My main character is a healer. I've worked hard to make sure he is an effective healer. I've got a terribly complicated keyboard set up so that I can have a quicker healing response time. My power sets are all geared towards healing and helping others. This character has awakened a passion to be a healer. There is something exciting going into a tough mission being in the middle of battle surrounded by enemies, keeping your teammates alive. This can be very nerve wracking, trying to keep everyone healthy. Most of the time I don't even fight because I'm concentrating so hard on healing. But this is expected in the game for the healer to just heal.
But what's really fun is running through the city going somewhere and seeing another character who is hurt, sometimes getting very low in health and stopping to heal him or her, to make sure they can get through whomever it is they are fighting, before going on my way. It's a total random acts of kindness kind of thing. It's gotten to the point that when I'm playing another character, one who can't heal and I see someone who's hurt, my first reaction is to run over to them to heal them, but then I remember that I can't. It's rather dissapointing not to be able to.
One of my friends in the game has a bad back in real life. She had a bad fall when she was 10 and it resulted in some fused vertebrae. Anyway, last night, she was in some pain and I was able to use Rún Valdr to help her. That's gratifying, to be able to help people who need it. It's like at the ADF festivals I go to. I always end up doing healing work, which I love to do. I like being able to help others.
In other news Imbolc is coming up and I'm looking forward to it. I'm also looking forward to bringing the SLG magic to those nice folks in Columbus
That's all for now, except that I have a new icon of the cutest little kitten. Let me know if you need any healing work.
